Kettering Textiles Ltd is one of the leading processors of second hand clothing and recyclable textiles. The company is contracted to Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd, (Head Office at Wellingborough, Northamptonshire) and operates as their exclusive agent. The Salvation Army uses textile recycling as one of many means of fundraising to care for people in need across the United Kingdom and Ireland and is one of the largest and most diverse providers of social welfare in the World. Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd has over 4800 clothing banks across the UK, one of the largest providers in the country. Kettering Textiles Ltd also operates door to door collection schemes on behalf of Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd visiting millions of homes each year. These two collection schemes generate hundreds of tonnes of donated clothing per week, which are then processed at our facility in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. Kettering Textiles Ltd generates employment for over 250 people in the UK who are engaged in management, collection, processing, reuse, recyclling, distribution and selling of secondhand clothes, salvageable textiles, books, shoes and brica-brac. Kettering Textiles Ltd is committed to protecting the environment and subscribes to the principles of sustainable development. At Kettering Textiles Ltd we realise that our activities have an impact on the environment. We are therefore committed to preventing pollution where we can by setting objectives and targets to continually improve our environmental performance. Kettering Textiles Limited achieved certification to ISO 14001:2004 Environmental management system in July 2008.
This policy is communicated to all our employees, contractors, sub-contractors and is available to the general public. It is fully endorsed by our Board of Directors. The Directors of Kettering Textiles Ltd will hold regular Environmental Management Review Meetings to provide a framework for setting and reviewing objectives and targets. |
